Gardening And Dogs.
Feb. 26th, 2014 10:06 amAll the local fruit trees are blossoming; almond, cherry and plum. Both of my Japanese plums are in flower, and I may try to cross pollinate them (with a little paintbrush) next week. So many wild almond trees, (spread by birds) in the neighborhood. I even have a almond seedling now growing in a pot. None of these trees are ever sprayed, and that probably contributes to a healthy number of wild honey bee hives.
We ran into the goat Pogi attacked, and he's now safe and sound, in a fenced field with his little herd. They all ran when they saw the dogs, so maybe Pogi taught them a valuable survival lesson. There are many stray dogs around. Just yesterday, We ran across two black labs out in the boonies, without collars. I checked Craigslist later, and no one has posted them as missing. I feel for these animals, but the one time I picked some up, animal control read me the riot act, and never came to get them.
