As of last night, we're still having gunshots and explosions in the neighborhood, and Pogi is still afraid to go out for a walk. I'm thinking about leaving with the dogs next year, around the 4th of July, as this has become traumatic for them.
On a lighter note, Pogi is still fed on the porch, and little birds have taken to stealing his food. He usually finishes it now, but also wants me to protect it from Halo and various little critters. At night, he likes it when I move the bowl inside the house, onto a low desk. He feels it's safe there, and little gestures like that, from me, make him happy.
I try to work with him, and keep him feeling secure and happy, but I'm so glad my other dog, Halo, is more even tempered. Pogi is a rescued border collie, and lots of people cannot manage them, they are said, by some, to be the most challenging dogs.
