So Much To Do
Nov. 14th, 2014 03:31 pmI constantly tell myself that it's better to light a single candle that to curse the darkness.
On that note, I managed to spray the plum trees. I was shocked to see that they had aphids again, so I mixed some horticultural oil and soaked them, probably for the last time before the frost. The Santa Rosa plum is almost too tall to spray without a ladder.
This winter, I'm going to do a serious plum tree pruning, and all my sources claim that if you do this right, eventually you'll have more fruit.
I have to trim two fan palm trees, as well. My free dump pass expires at the end of the year, and just these palm trimmings will make a full truck load.
Another priority is to plant the onion bulbs. I plant both red and yellow, but next year just the red onions will be allowed to go to seed.
It's also time to rake leaves. Up until now, I've just mowed over the leaves, but the current leaf fall is too heavy for that.
Tim, the guy camping along the creek, lost his new puppy the other day. He asked me to keep an eye out, but it could be that the coyotes got him. Tim still has a dog and and a kitten. The dog is very maternal, and Tim tells me his dog found the kitten, and began producing milk to feed it.
