I popped 16 little Japanese eggplant into the ground, each inside an underground gopher cage, and each with a drip line for water.
This type of drip irrigation has little emitters inline that limit the water to 1 gallon per hour, but with my well water, they tend to get clogged with minerals. I wonder if there is some low pressure type of drip irrigation that would work better for me.
They'll grow about 4 feet tall, and love the intense heat (103 today) that we have now.
