Dinah's So Sweet
Sep. 21st, 2018 08:46 pmI've had her for about 18 months and she's become such a sweet dog. She's sad when I leave, but so happy when I come home. Sleeps right next to my bed. She's very compatible with Halo and is good company for both of us. She also made Jack's stay much easier for him.
She was a stray dog, dumped in the neighborhood, sleeping under a parked truck. Very skittish and hard to catch. She was so happy when I decided on a name for her. She was actually waiting for that. If I had to guess, I would say she's an American Pitbull terrier mix. Larger, heavier, but more slender than a pitbull. A really good guard dog, but not at all aggressive. Her and Halo, together, guard the shit out of my property. This is a bit of a rough neighborhood, and some neighbors are envious that I have not one, but two, really effective guard dogs. I didn't plan that, but sort of like it now.
I reinforce the behavior by going out and looking when they make noise. They don't bark at neighbor's kids anymore, but give skeevy people a stern warning.
