Halo likes Dinah, but he's not very demonstrative. It might have to with being an alpha male.
Dinah loves Halo, and is always displaying affection towards him. I think Halo was the lure that convinced her to join our household. They especially enjoy the walks. They smell everything in tandem. They also guard together. That seems to be a big part of their job. I never even considered getting a guard dog, but they both are stellar guard dogs.
Once a delivery guy came through the posted gate, and Halo "herded" him out of the yard. He didn't bite the man, but scared him.
A half-crazy neighbor once came running up at us, thinking I had just stolen his newspaper. Halo backed the guy up 40 feet. This same guy, about a year later, was caught stealing by his elderly stepfather, who shot him dead.
Once at the creek, a canoeist came scrambling up the bank, though thick underbrush.
Halo grabbed him by the shirt, again scaring, but not hurting him.
Dinah mostly likes people, especially women and children. A few times we've run into men she doesn't like.
When she guards the property, she barks very aggressively, especially at shady looking men. Dinah is a 60 lb bulldog mix, so picture her and Halo, a shaggy 70 lb Australian Shepherd warning off someone.
I've taught them both not to bark at kids.
